Hello, Joe

Sloppy Joe, that is. 😀

Tonight’s dinner featured sloppy joes paired with roasted Brussels sprouts.

Dinner

Brussels Sprouts

I made the ‘joes using lean ground beef, a chopped onion, apple cider vinegar and ketchup.

Sloppy Joes

The flavors blended perfectly to create a tangy sloppy joe mixture.

I filled my bowl with the beef and Brussels sprouts and went back for seconds of the meaty goodness!

Tasty!

Post-Work Yoga

After work today I high-tailed it home to hit the gym for some post-work yoga.

For a girl who had not experienced a good yoga class in her entire life only a month ago, I have come a long way in such a short time. Now I find my body craving the good stretch of a yoga class.

Since I already worked out this morning, I wanted to take the class nice ‘n’ easy and just workout some of the kinks in my body. I had no idea how fantastic yoga feels on your hips. All the hip-opening stretches are amazing.

Question of the Evening

Do you incorporate stretching into your workout routine? (Be honest!)

  1. I hardly ever stretch 😦

  2. I never use to like yoga until I started running. Now I can’t imagine my life without it! 😉

  3. I stretch at the end of my workout and sometimes when I’m at home and feeling tight. I used to take yoga but having trouble fitting into my schedule!

  4. I have never done yoga but my friend Hilary is slowly but surely convincing me to try!

  5. Yes, I stretch for 5-10 minutes after every workout. I know I should do more than that. I LOVE yoga and wish I could incorporate it more, but the class times at the gym aren’t good for me.

  6. I’ve just gotten into yoga too! I’ve always done an informal stretch session every day, but I feel better having someone walk me through positions that are designed to target certain muscles.

  7. Mmmm…sloppy joes. I haven’t had those in so long. Thanks for the reminder!

  8. I’m bad, I KNOW I need to stretch more since I run so much but I just don’t do it. I should start challenging myself to up my stretching every week.

  9. I didn’t but as a result I got 3 months of PT- SO now I do! So yep stretching is very important

  10. Yum, I haven’t had sloppy joes in forever!!! And I looove to stretch!

  11. as a devoted sloppy joer, I cant let you call that healthy bowl “sloppy.” It must be on a bun (white and nutrient free) and devoured with hands. NO FORKS ALLOWED!! That being said, ive had some of the best joe on a bagel to allow for maximum drippage and sloppiness. just fyi.

  12. I’m horrible about stretching. I need to do more. Sometimes I even skip out on the stretching part of the end of a workout dvd. Shame…

  13. you know, i was doing a really good job doing yoga consistently, but haven’t been doing it as much. i do make a point now to stretch before and after working out though!!!

  14. I do make sure I stretch post run, but nothing like a yoga stretch. You’re LUCKY you’ve found a yoga class you like….I’m still on the hunt!

  15. I try my best to stretch as much as I can after my workouts. However, my flexibility is pretty sad so it can be discouraging sometimes. I still can’t touch my toes haha But I know that it is a work in progress and that it will only get better the more I work at it.

I can’t always make it to the yoga classes at my gym but I have found that doing some of the 20 minute yoga classes at http://www.yogadownload.com are a great way to squeeze more stretch time into my routine. The classes are great, and best of all they are free!

  16. I have to admit even though I say I will stretch after I workout, I never do! I have a question and was wondering if you can help. I just bought some brussel sprouts today and am not sure what to do with them? Like how to cook them, what to add to them? So when I say you blog about them today I was like hey maybey she can help! Thanks! 🙂

    • try roasting them! chop off the hard little nobs and then cut them in half. then toss them in olive oil, salt & pepper and roast at 375 for about 20 minutes, flipping half way through. they’re delish!

  17. Yes, every single time. Ever since I injured my knees, it’s been such an important part of recovery. Tight muscles can lead to major damage. Besides, nothing feels better than a deep hamstring stretch. I feel much stronger afterward.

  18. I wish I could say I streched more, but really, I only do when I’m in a class where it’s incorporated in.

  19. I’ve never really incorporated stretching into my routine until I got shin splints a few weeks ago and turned to yoga as another way to be active. Now I can’t imagine going more than a couple of days without it!

  20. I’m SO bad about stretching 😦 I have tried to do better lately..especially after problems with an achellies…(spelling?) but I try to do at least 5 minutes…
