Movin’ and Groovin’

I try not to let my blog stress me out. Most of the time I succeed by reminding myself that the lil’ blog is my hobby and that helps me to put things into perspective.

I did feel a little bit of blog-related stress yesterday as my blog made the move from WordPress to Bluehost. I’ve done nearly everything related to my blog myself (except for the wonderful redesign which I owe to The Blog Fairy).

I am not tech-savvy at all, but with the help of some online tutorials and many, many Google searches I’ve been able to get by… That is until I started looking into changing the host of my blog.

Time to Move

Holy information overload! Since I didn’t want to lose any of my blog in the transfer process, I knew I wanted to have a professional’s help, if not for their skill than for my peace of mind.

I want to give a huge shout out to Seth for being my go-to web guy! He was so, so easy to work with and answered all of my questions in a language I could understand (not web-speak). Thank you mucho, Seth! 😀

So, as you may have noticed my blog was flip-flipping back and forth bewteen my peanutbutterfingers.wordpress.com domain and it’s real home, right here at pbfingers.com.

Subscribing to PBF

Since many of you seemed to appreciate my previous blog post for the non-blog savvy folks, I thought I would quickly post easy-to-find links for those of you who may wish to subscribe to my blog or receive automatic updates.

Now let’s get away from the movin’ and head onto the groovin’…

Workout

My workout this morning was a sweaty one! I initially planned to take Sadie for a run, but it was pouring outside!

Plan B: Take a spinning class!

One of the benefits to keeping track of my workouts through the Exercise Log on this blog is that I can see when I last took certain classes. The last time I took a spin class was in March. Clearly I was long overdue!

I forgot two things about spinning classes:

  • They make me unbelievably sweaty
  • They’re really hard!

I think my time away from the bike made today’s class feel extra challenging.

The instructor said something that resonated with me though and made me push through.

“If you’re not working you’re not living.”

I know you can take this statement in many different ways, but I took it to mean that when we truly work our bodies and minds to our full potential, that’s when we’re really living!

I always feel so much more alive after a great workout and I kept telling myself that whenever I wanted to kick back and relax on the bike.

Breakfast

Breakfast today was a new combo!

Peach + Coconut Yogurt Bowl

I made myself a yogurt bowl that contained:

  • 1 c. Fage plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 sliced peach
  • 1/2 c. old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 scoop All the Whey cake batter protein powder
  • Three pinches unsweetened coconut
  • Dash of nutmeg

I cooked the oats and protein powder together with a bit of water in the microwave and let the mixture chill in the fridge for a bit before adding the remaining ingredients.

After topping the cake batter oats with the yogurt, fruit, coconut and nutmeg, my breakfast was ready!

Tuesday Breakfast

Great combo! 😀

Banana Walnut Stuffed French Toast

My dad, sister and I worked up quite an appetite during spinning this morning. We came back sweaty and ready for some good eatin’!

The Spinners

I promised Ryan I would try to recreate the banana walnut stuffed French toast that he ordered at breakfast last Saturday.

I made French toast with pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon stirred into the egg mixture. My sister cut up bananas and we heated them up on the griddle while the toast was cooking.

Of course I had to add whipped cream!

Banana Walnut Stuffed French Toast

This was a breakfast the whole family loved! Weekend breakfasts are the best.

Wedding Planning + Lunch

After breakfast, Ryan and I headed to the Vinoy to meet with the catering manager to meet with the catering manager, Stephanie, who will be handling our big day.

Stephanie was bubbly and very nice and we cannot wait to embark on more of the planning fun (tastings… yum!). 🙂

We came home to an easy lunch of sandwiches and pasta.

For dessert I enjoyed a cup of my obsession… Jello mousse!

Ryan and I are leaving in 10 minutes to head out to a local restaurant and meet with a woman to discuss using one of the restaurant’s large rooms for our rehearsal dinner. Should be fun!

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend! 😀

In a Flash

Sometimes I get through my workout, a morning walk with Sadie and my shower in a flash! Today it seems like I flew through everything.

The Flash

Workout

I got to the gym and did a quick 10 minute warm up on the elliptical before heading to spinning.

Since I enjoyed the 6 a.m. spin class so much last Tuesday, I made sure to take it again this morning. Unfortunately the instructor announced that she will no longer be teaching on Tuesdays at 6 a.m. What a bummer! I just discovered her awesome class. Oh well… At least I got to enjoy her rockin’ music today. 😀

How good is the song I Gotta Feeling, by the Black Eyed Peas!? I don’ t think I’ll ever get sick of it!

"Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night..."

Grocery Stop

After the gym and a nice 40-minute walk with Miss Sadie (she was in prime squirrel-hunting mode today), I showered up and was ready in no time.

Since I seemed to fly through everything, I had some extra time to spare before heading into work this morning and stopped by the grocery store to pick up food for dinner tonight.

The grocery store is so peaceful before 8:30 a.m.

When do you typically do your grocery shopping?

Ryan and I hit up the grocery store on Sunday afternoons most of the time. Sometimes we’ll be lazy and won’t get around to going until Monday nights. The grocery store is a mad house on Mondays!

After my morning grocery run, I came home and unloaded my bag (a green bag, of course 😉 ) before putting chicken in the crock pot. I see BBQ pulled chicken in my future… YUM.

Breakfast

Breakfast was super simple and super tasty!

Tuesday's Breakfast

I enjoyed a hot bowl of old fashioned oats with All the Whey cupcake batter protein powder stirred in for that extra protein punch! I also sipped on free Barnie’s cinnamon butter cookie coffee from my gym. It tastes like a dessert drink. Right up my alley.

Sooo Last Season

I know pumpkin is sooo last season, but, as Cher from Clueless would say… “Whatever!”

Pumpkin was the star of the morning in my big bowl of pumpkin oats.

Pumpkin Oats

Are you still enjoying pumpkin, or did you retire it after Thanksgiving?

Along with the pumpkin, I added 3/4 scoop of All the Whey cinnamon protein powder to my oats for added sweetness and protein.

I also sipped on a hot mug of sugar cookie tea. This breakfast warmed me right up after a chilly morning walk with Sadie.

Tuesday's Breakfast

Workout

I didn’t feel like putting myself through a decent workout today so I figured I’d let someone else do it for me! After a 10 minute warm up on the elliptical, I took the 6 a.m. spinning class at my gym.

The music was jammin’ today! The Blinded by the Light techno remix always gets me pumped up so I was thrilled when that song came blarin’ through the speakers. Music does so much for me in terms of motivating me to step it up a notch.

Free Einstein Bros. Bagel + Schmear

Because I don’t believe in low carb living, here’s a coupon for a free Einstein Bros. bagel with schmear (aka cream cheese), valid through Sunday. YUM.

Yummy Bagel

Enjoy!

Spinning and Swirling

This morning stated off freezing but got sweaty real quick!

Ryan and I are lucky to live across the street from our gym, so we sprinted there to avoid too much time in the frigid Florida weather. I had plans to meet a friend for spinning at 6 a.m. and did a quick 10 min. warm up on the stair master before taking the class.

Spinning Bike

I forgot how much I like spinning. My relationship with spinning is either hot or cold. I go all the time… or not at all. For one reason or another, I will stop taking spinning for a while, then take a class again randomly only to realize what a fantastic work out it can be. The obsession then begins once again.

We’ll see if another spinning love affair is in the works after today’s class!

What workout makes you the sweatiest?

I can run a billion miles but I will still be sweatier and more red in the face following a spinning class. What gives?

Breakfast

Aside from making me drip buckets and buckets of sweat, spinning also makes me hungry.

This morning I enjoyed a big bowl of Flax-Z-Snax hot cereal with several spoonfuls of my homemade microwaveable cranberry sauce swirled in.

Hot Cereal Topped with Cranberry Sauce

(I added more cranberry sauce after this picture. 😉 )

I’m off to make another cup of hot tea! I’m such a baby with this cold weather.
