Sugar Stacks

It’s no secret that I have one heck of a big sweet tooth.

I Love Cupcakes!

Though I love the sweetness of sugary foods, I do not like how they can leave me feeling lethargic, tired and even sick to my stomach if I indulge too much.

Over the weekend I saw a really neat post on FitSugar.com that directed readers to a website called SugarStacks.com, that visually shows viewers just how many lil’ sugar cubes are in various food items.

Visually seeing just how much sugar is in some of your favorite foods can really make you think twice before reaching for a second cookie.

Would you actually sit down and eat 4.5 sugar cubes? No! But when the sugar is hidden in a cookie, it’s easily to put that thought out of your mind.

Lunch

When I made my lunch for today, I kept the sugar content low and natural and derived my sweetness from fresh strawberries.

Fresh Strawberries

I made myself a peanut butter and strawberry sandwich on a whole wheat sandwich thin.

On the side I enjoyed several sliced strawberries and a cup of Chobani plain Greek yogurt, sweetened with a couple drops of honey.

Cuisinart Sale

As some of you may know, I love the website Rue La La and use it often to get great deals on designer clothes (Especially jeans – I love William Rast and Ernest Sewn).

The site features daily sales that begin at 11 a.m. and today’s sale seemed blog-appropriate since it featured lots of kitchenware from Cuisinart. It’s an “invite only” web site, but you may click here to enter the boutique and shop around. (Warning: You may become addicted.)

Parmesan Cheese Puh-lease!

Do you ever create your dinner around one ingredient? I do this all the time. Often a teeny ingredient will inspire my entire dinner.

Tonight that ingredient was Parmesan cheese.

Parmesan Cheese Please!

I’m not sure what spawned this random craving for Parmesan cheese, but I’m blaming the fact that I forgot to put any cheese on my pasta last night. That’s just not like me and it’s been eating away at my soul ever since.

Clearly, I had to make up for it tonight.

I cooked up come Carba Nada egg fettuccine noodles (I’m tellin’ ya, they never get old) and topped them with sauteed spinach, acorn squash, portobello mushrooms and LOTS and LOTS of Parmesan cheese.

Parmesan Mountain

Perfect. It hit the spot. The cheese spot, that is… which is almost as big as my sweet spot which controls my cravings for baked goods. It’s huge. Trust me.

Engaged Girl Experience

I had quite the weird engaged-girl experience today. As I was driving home from work, the song “Amazed” by Lonestar came on the radio (you know the one that starts “Everytime our eyes meet, this feeling inside me, is almost more than I can take”). I’ve heard this song a ba-zillion times, but this time the words really stuck out to me and I got all teary! Who does that!? I swear, country music just gets to me!

I walked in the door ready to give my hubby-to-be a big emotional hug only to find him playing indoor soccer with the dog. I sure do love those two! 🙂

Now I’m off to do a two loads of laundry and pack for St. Pete this weekend. Ryan and I are once again headed to my parent’s house. We’re checking out some more potential wedding venues and meeting with a photographer. Also, I have my very first appointment at a bridal boutique on Saturday… Eeeee! My mom and sister are coming with me for my first attempt at trying on wedding dresses. Exciting stuff!

Enjoy the rest of your Friday Eve! 🙂

Reebok EasyTone

Have you heard the latest commotion surrounding Reebok’s EasyTone sneakers? Apparently these bad boys help tone & tighten your tooshie and legs just by walking. Believe it? Me neither. 😉

I wrote my Examiner article on the shoes today which includes a link to the scandalous advertisement of the shoes that’s gettin’ lots of publicity right now. Click here to see the article and ad.

Have you ever purchased any weight loss or fitness gimmicks?

Rue La La

Remember when I posted about “boutique sites” that offer awesome discounts on designer clothes? Well I received and email from Rue La La today stating that anyone who signs up automatically gets a $10 credit toward their first purchase.

Don't you feel like this sometimes when you can't find anything to wear?

Not a bad gig, huh? This will basically eliminate the cost of shipping on your order. Woohoo! Click here to get the credit and browse the site.

Fashion fun to come, but first…

Lunch

Lunch was once again spaghetti squash leftovers with lots o’ zucchini and MorningStar Farms soy crumbles. I’m so amazed at how meaty those crumbles taste!

I followed it up with a cookie-brownie made by a coworker.

Okay, I just blog-lied. I definitely ate the brownie first. 😉

For the Love of Pajamas

Last night after dinner when I changed into my warm and fuzzy J. Crew snowflake pajama pants (I can’t WAIT for the holidays!), I randomly proclaimed “I love flannel pajama pants.”

Sadie cocked her head as if to say, “Well that’s great, Mama. Now go get me a treat.”

It’s true though… pajamas are my favorite. Aside from gym clothes (I have a serious addiction to sports bras), I think pajamas are my second most prevalent clothing item.

Though lounge wear is a favorite of mine, I do love cute everyday clothes, sky-high heels, sundresses and designer jeans. I am not willing to drop lots o’ dollas on expensive clothes though, and after discovering a few neat Web sites, I’ve managed to get some pretty amazing deals on high-end items.

After posting about my love for sales and coupons, I see that many of you share my desire for cheap finds, so I wanted to share these Web sites with you.

These are “boutique” sites that launch a new sale every day at 11 a.m. The boutiques feature a new designer every day (Rock & Republic, William Rast, Puma, Betsey Johnson, Hudson, Vera Bradley and more) and offer clothing, jewelry and shoes at discounted prices. Some of the stuff still costs mucho dinero, but some is a pretty good deal.

Here are the sites (they’re “invite only” and you’re invited!)… Enjoy!

Feel free to comment and post any sites with amazing deals you enjoy visiting! I’m always on the lookout for a good bargain. 😉
