KISS

This morning, I turned to Ryan and said, “What are you in the mood to eat for breakfast?”

When he replied “eggs,” I had a bunch of different ideas about what to make ranging from an omelets to a frittata to a quiche, but i inevitably decided to go with an easy-peasy breakfast of fried eggs served with whole wheat toast and Polaner blueberry jelly.

When in doubt, KISS! (Keep it simple, stupid. 😉 )

I prepared the eggs on the griddle and simply seasoned them with salt and pepper.

The jelly on the toast added a nice, sweet flavor to this breakfast.

Sadie even got to enjoy an egg of her own. 😀

Today’s Plans

I actually have quite a few things on the agenda for today!

  • Laundry
  • Returns at the mall
  • Get some sun by the pool
  • Dog park with Sadie
  • Visit JoAnn’s or Michael’s for invitation crafting supplies
  • Grocery store
  • Clean apartment

Aaand I’m off!

Mind Boggling

Wanna know something that boggles my mind?

A few months ago I hated yoga. I just couldn’t get into it.

My mind would race a mile a minute during every class. I found myself feeling inadequate as I looked at the people who were all surely professional gymnasts and could contort their bodies into the most bizarre positions… and then hold them for a minute or two.

Namaste

I wasn’t until I took a yoga class with an instructor who offered modifications to more advanced yoga poses and was constantly telling the class to practice yoga in the way that feels right to them and their body that I actually enjoyed it. What a world of difference!

Ever since then, I’ve found that my body honestly craves yoga. The way I feel after a solid hour of deep stretching is unsurpassed by any other workout. (You may read about my favorite yoga pose here.)

This morning I took a yoga class after doing 30 minutes of light cardio on the elliptical and it felt fantastic.

My quadriceps and hamstrings were unbelievably tight. I’ve been wanting to take a yoga class ever since I finished the Chicago Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon a week and a half ago, but I’ve been waiting for the scab/bruise on my knee (thank you, Sadie) to heal so I could comfortably do all of the poses.

Breakfast

After yoga and a quick walk with Sadie, I came home to assemble breakfast. I could have sworn I had a peach in the fridge, but apparently I eat things and forget about them these days. 🙂

Though I initially planned to enjoy a peach-tastic breakfast, I changed my menu and opted for a simple morning meal of a banana and Chobani Greek yogurt which I enjoyed with a scoop of Polaner blueberry fruit spread.

Though this breakfast veered from my initial plan, it was still pretty darn tasty!

Jammin’ Out

Let me just say I love PBF readers!

As a little token of my love for you guys, please enjoy this compilation of ’80s jams that I assembled from your comments on my morning post from yesterday. Get ready to sing and dance your way through the rest of the work day!

Now go make yourself a rockin’ ’80s playlist! 😀

Jelly Belly

I eat peanut butter and peanut butter sandwiches an awful lot, but I typically use fresh fruit in place of jelly when I’m cravin’ a pb & j.

Today was a different story. I wanted jelly. Real jelly!

Blueberry Jelly

Though I prefer strawberries and strawberry-flavored treats to grapes and grape-flavored goodies, I’ve always been a grape jelly kind of girl.

When our friend Ross came into town Wednesday night, he brought a jar of Polaner all fruit with fiber blueberry jelly with him. Though I think the company technically calls the jelly “spreadable fruit,” let’s be real and call it what it is. 😉

The blueberry goodness looked an awful lot like grape jelly which immediately intrigued me. Plus, I liked how the label said it was “sweetened only with fruit juice.”

After spreading one half of an Arnold sandwich thin with the blueberry spread and the other half with a heaping spoonful of peanut butter, I was ready to dig in!

Possibly the Greatest Combination in the World

Since a lil’ pb & j wouldn’t be enough to tide me over, I used a big spoonful of the blueberry jelly to sweeten up a cup of Chobani Greek yogurt to enjoy on the side.

Togetha

I also enjoyed a tumbler full of free Barnie’s French vanilla coffee that I snagged from my gym this morning.

Me + Joe (Cup of Joe???)

I love  the slight hint of caramel in Barnie’s French vanilla coffee. It adds a hint of sweetness that I just adore.

Workout

This breakfast was a great way to refuel after a decent workout!

Today I took my usual Friday morning BodyPump class. We did an older release that included the song “Meet Her at the Love Parade” by DJ Aligator.  I was really feelin’ that song!  My shoulders were burnin’ while the music was blasting and I loved it!

I really do like strength training a lot more than cardio. I often find cardio monotonous and enjoy the muscle burn and the variety that comes with strength training. My former cardio queen self would be shocked by this statement! 🙂

Alright, kiddos, it’s time to work! See ya fo’ lunch!

Question of  the Morning

Strawberry jelly or grape jelly… or a different kind altogether?

For me it’s grape all the way… though I was a total freak growing up and loved mint jelly on my pb & js. 🙂
