I Worked Out and Had Dippy Eggs

Post title explanation: After typing up this post, I turned to Ryan and said, “What should I title my post? I worked out and had dippy eggs. Whadda ya got?”

His reply: I Worked Out and Had Dippy Eggs

The man is clearly an un-tapped blogging genius. 😉

On to today’s post!

Workout

I give myself leeway when it comes to working out on the weekend, but if time permits, I love sneaking in a sweaty workout first thing in the morning.

To say today’s 9 a.m. gym session was sweaty is quite the understatement.

This was the sight that greeted Ryan when he came to find me after his workout was over.

I definitely worked up a sweat thanks, yet again, to Jessica’s At Home Cardio Blast workout.

Before completing two rounds of the Cardio Blast circuit, I did 30 minutes of cardio, split evenly between the stair master and the elliptical.

As if the circuit isn’t hard enough by itself, doing two rounds after already completing 30 minutes of cardio made me sweat like a monster!

Needless to say, I worked up quite an appetite.

Breakfast

My pre-workout quesadilla held me over fairly well, but after that workout and a 2.5 mile walk with Ryan and Sadie, I was ready for a real breakfast.

I made myself a dippy egg, seasoned with salt ‘n’ peppa, to enjoy with a toasted Arnold multigrain sandwich thin and two strips of Morningstar Farms veggie bacon (one went directly into my mouth and didn’t make the picture).

I loved every last yolky bite!

So good!

Once we were finished licking our plates, Ryan and I spent some time in the backyard, soaking up some sun and playing with Sadie.

Now it’s time for lunch before we head out for the day.

Catcha lata! 😀

Sweet Potato Wedges

When I got home from work, Ryan and I took Sadie on a walk around the neighborhood before heading to the grocery store to pick up some essentials for the week.

While there, we also nabbed a couple of sweet potatoes to incorporate into our dinner this evening.

I started by slicing the sweet potato before tossing the wedges in canola oil and salt.

I then spread them out on a cookie sheet and baked them at 415 degrees for approximately 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through.

We enjoyed the wedges along with muenster cheese and Morningstar Farms veggie bacon sandwiches.

It was a pretty random dinner, but it was also exactly what I was craving!

The rest of the night will be spent curled up on the couch with a movie.

In the DVD player this evening:

Ryan and I wanted to see it when it was in theaters, but never got around to it. We’ve heard great things, so let’s hope it’s a funny one!

It’s All in the Drink

I’m not sure what it is about drinking Perrier that makes me feel so fancy.

Maybe it’s the bubbly carbonation or the thick, green glass bottle? Whatever it is, I feel like a queen when I sip on a bottle of this stuff.

At the grocery store this evening, I picked up a bottle of pamplemousse rose Perrier, which tasted a lot like pink grapefruit flavored sparkling water.

I loved it! I would drink this stuff everyday if I could afford to drop some serious dough on my beverages.

Along with my oh-so-regal drink, I enjoyed a tasty dinner of a Morningstar Farms Asian veggie patty with a side of steamed broccoli.

Yum!

Tonight Ryan and I have plans to cuddle up on the couch and watch some shows we’ve DVRed.

First up: Jersey Shore. (Don’t judge. This show is hilarious. I thought it looked so, so stupid before I actually watched it… But I couldn’t stop laughing once I finally gave it a chance. These people are ridiculous!)

I’m not feeling 100 percent and still feel a little tired from this weekend, so this activity sounds perfect-o!

An Almost Restless Workout

Ryan always leaves the gym super sweaty.

His strength training workouts are no joke. To me, they seem like a combination of cardio and strength training because he never stops moving. In between sets of one exercise, he does another less-intense exercise that typically only uses his body weight (such as crunches), so his heart rate never drops too low.

Though my workout today wasn’t nearly as fast-paced as Ryan’s, I did make an effort to not rest for more than 30 seconds between sets of each exercise. At first I thought this would be plenty of time, but those 30 seconds of recovery fly by!

My workout today looked like this:

Slam Jam Those Muscles!

I also did 10 minutes of cardio on the stair master to warm up and completed 10 minutes of cardio on the elliptical to cool down.

Post workout, I came home to shower and made a concerted effort to tone-down my Swamp Beast habits. (You guys should know I’ve come a long way in my Swamp Beastliness, though I still hop out of the shower right away because it’s grossss to linger. 😉 )

Breakfast

I was achin’ for some bacon for breakfast today and turned to the freezer to grab some Morningstar Farms veggie bacon to include in my morning meal.

Morningstar Farms Veggie Bacon Strips

I used the fakie bacon in a breakfast sandwich that I made with a wedge of Laughing Cow light Swiss cheese and an egg white.

On the side I also enjoyed a cup of strawberry banana Chobani Greek yogurt.

Strawberry Banana Chobani

If you’re not so sure about the whole Greek yogurt thing, you should know that Ryan thinks plain Greek yogurt is gross, but loves this flavor. The strawberry banana Greek yogurt has officially replaced his typical plain strawberry yogurt.

I think he was swayed to convert to Greek yogurt when I showed him that a serving of the yogurt he was buying had almost 40 grams of sugar… more than a serving of ice cream (which is 10x more delicious… I’ll take my sugar consumption elsewhere, thankyouverymuch).

Tonight

Stay tuned for information about our plans tonight! I am beyond excited for what we have in store. I felt like it was Christmas Eve as we were going to bed last night… Okay, total lie, but I am pumped! 😀

Question of the Morning

What is your favorite sugar-laden food?

Do I really need to tell you mine? ICE CREAM!!!!!!

I’m So Exciiited, I’m So Exciiited (+ Giveaway)

Is it any shocker that today’s lunch included carrot slices?

Carrot + Cuc + Tomato

Since I had a carrot the size of a toddler chillin’ in my fridge, I knew I better start eating that bad boy since it will likely take me five years to get through the whole thing.

I enjoyed the sliced carrot with cucumber and grape tomatoes alongside a fakie-bacon and cheese sandwich, made with two Morningstar Farms veggie bacon strips.

For a lil’ sweetness, I also included a cup o’ Motts natural apple sauce which brought me back to childhood.

The Full Spread

Speaking of childhood, I was am a huge fan of Saved by the Bell and read in a magazine this morning that today is Jessie Spano‘s birthday and she is now 38 years old.

Jessie Spano

This clearly must be false. She is only 28. Time does not fly that fast!

Anyway, happy birthday Jessie! I’m so excited, I’m so excited, I’m so… scared for you. 😉 (Seriously, who gets that loony on caffeine pills?)

A giveaway two days in a row? What is this?

When Jessica, the wonderful woman behind the new blog Give Away One Thing A Day, contacted me about hosting a giveaway on my blog I was immediately intrigued by the unique concept behind her blog. Jessica started her blog in an effort to bring more positivity into her life and focus on doing something good for others.

Jessica is offering one reader a copy of Gourmet Nutrition, a cookbook for “the Fit Food Lover.”
