On the Right Foot

Friday started off on the right foot!

Walk, Walk, Walk

Today is one of the every other Fridays that Ryan has off of work, so he joined me and Sadie on our morning walk!

She's Just a Love Machine

Yup, She's a Daddy's Girl

Tour de Orlando

"Let Gooo! That Squirrel is Getting Away!"

We walked for about 40 minutes and enjoyed watching Sadie terrorize play with the birds around the lake.

Heeeere Swany, Swany!

It was nice to enjoy a moment of calm before the kickoff of the work day!

Pre-walk Ryan and I headed to the gym for a good workout.

While he hit the weight room, I took a BodyPump class followed by 15 minutes on the elliptical.

After arriving home from our walk with Sadie, I immediately enjoyed a peanut butter finger while preparing a random assortment of goodies for breakfast.

Friday Breakfast

On today’s menu was a cheese roll up along with a chopped fruit salad comprised of a sliced apple and peach and a small bowl of Gerber Graduates Apple Cinnamon Puffs.

Quite the hodge podge, but it was delicious!

Now it’s time to w-o-r-k.

Happy Friday, friends!

Peanut Butter Packets?

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

I thought this was Peanut Butter Fingers?

What’s with the packets?

Peanut Butter & Company

This lil’ packet you mean?

That packet of heaven was tucked into a gorgeous card sent to me by Lisa in honor of my one-year blogging anniversary.

Can you believe I’ve never tried Peanut Butter & Co. peanut butter before?

They make about a bajillion different flavors of peanut butter but I’ve never actually purchased a jar for myself.

I’ve avoided buying Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter or Cinnamon Raisin Swirl for fear that an innocent peanut butter finger would turn into a peanut butter hand… and then peanut butter arm, and I would polish off the whole jar in one day.

This Would Be Me

Seriously, it could happen.

This morning the highlight of my breakfast was not the yummy yogurt bowl I created.

It was the packet of peanut butter I slurped down while making my actual breakfast.

See Any Boogs?

More. Give Me More.

So, so good. Thank goodness the packet provided built-in portion control.

After my pre-breakfast snack, I enjoyed my yogurt bowl which I made my combining a cup of Fage 0% Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup of canned pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, sweetener and a large handful of Gerber Graduates Apple Cinnamon Puffs.

Big Baby

These little puffs are full of flavor! Love ’em.

Yog + Pump + Puffs + Spice

The Token Food-On-Spoon Shot

The apple cinnamon puffs mixed with the pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice tasted like fall in a bowl. Too bad the morning chill Central Floridians experienced yesterday was a big fat tease. The heat was back in full-force this morning!

My workout today was just what the doctor ordered… If I actually went to a doctor and they were to prescribe me a workout, that is.

I started off my gym session with 30 minutes on the elliptical before taking a yoga class.

Today’s yoga class made me sweat! I loved it.

I was really into everything that the teacher was saying. The woman who teaches the 6 a.m. yoga class at my gym has the most soothing voice, but still manages to make the class challenging at times. She’s fantastic.

Also noted during this morning’s class: I have the tightest hamstrings on the planet.

Alright mah friends, back to work fo’ me!

Oh Look, We’re Matching!

When I headed off to college, I planned on becoming a teacher.

ABC... Easy as 1, 2, 3

During my senior year of high school I immersed myself in childhood education courses and took a child development class which I absolutely loved. In the class, each high school student was assigned a preschooler to work with throughout the semester.

According to a temperament theory based on a study conducted in the 1950s, my preschooler, Max (who I adored), fell into the “slow to warm up” category of temperaments. He was shy and tended to withdraw from social situations with other kids.

He became quite attached to me, but had a hard time coming out of his shell around others. One way I could get him to approach other children was to point out similarities he shared with them.

“Oh look! Jason is wearing a yellow shirt just like you!”

Max would get so excited and would muster up the courage to tell Jason about the awesome thing they had in common.

I think this experience really stuck with me because I still point out obvious similarities in my day-to-day life. If two people come to work and they’re both wearing a red shirt and jeans, I feel the need to point it out to them.

Today I was quite matchy-matchy myself… with my coffee tumbler. ๐Ÿ˜€

We Match!

Though my drink and I were a match made in heaven this morning, my breakfast failed to include the color coral and didn’t really mesh with my ensemble.

Today my morning meal was a fast favorite.

Monday Morning Breakfast

I made myself a yogurt bowl with Greek yogurt,ย  fresh blueberries and Gerber Graduates banana puffs because I’m a kid at heart. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fast. Simple. Satisfying.

That’s how I roll.

Do any of you out there know how to publish photos with captions through Windows Live Writer??? I can’t figure it out for the life of me! (Clearly this post was not published through WLW because my photos have captions. I need my captions!)

Question of the Morning

Did you ever change your major in college?

I changed my major a couple of times.

Education –> Psychology –> Advertising & Public Relations

Chocolate Yogurt Mousse

Man-oh-man, I sure could use another day off!

This weekend totally flew by… Let’s hope this week does the same! ๐Ÿ˜€

It can be tough getting back into the swing of things on Monday mornings, so I like to start ’em out on the right foot with a tasty breakfast.

Today’s morning meal was fantastic!

Monday Morning Breakfast

I made myself a bowl of yogurt mousse (just like yogurt pudding, but today’s concoction was this was thicker and more mousse-like for some reason).

I made the mousse by combining one cup of Greek yogurt with nine grams (one large spoonful) of chocolate instant pudding mix. I stirred the two ingredients together until the chocolate powder was evenly dispersed and the mixture became super thick.

After topping the chocolate yogurt mousse with fresh berries and Gerber Graduates cherry puffs, my breakfast was ready for eatin’.

Yogurt Mousse + Berries + Puffs

Lots o' Flava

I use the Gerber Graduates cherry puffs in my yogurt bowl because they are delicious and I actually trust myself around them.

I โค Baby Food

The puffs are perfect because, unlike most cereal, I can manage to stop eating the them after a serving or two. They provide the sweetness, texture and crunch I desire in my yogurt bowl, but I don’t have a huge box of cereal calling my name from the pantry.

“Juuuulie. Eaaaaaat me. No, eat allllll of meeeee.”

Along with my yogurt bowl, I also enjoyed a banana.

All Together

Meant for a Monkey

Before breakfast, Ryan and headed to the gym and were talking about how great we both slept last night. I’m not sure if it was the 20 minute walk we took Sadie on late in the evening yesterday or what, but I’ll take it! I rarely sleep through the night without waking up at least once, so I was a happy camper.

We arrived at the gym a little before 5:45 a.m. and Iย  headed to BodyPump for a sweaty strength-training workout. Loved it!

Post ‘Pump, I came home and took Sadie on a 40 minute walk without my iPod.

Sadie Girl

I’ve been leaving my iPod at home a lot lately on my morning walks with Sadie and have really enjoyed the quiet calm of the morning before the hustle and bustle sets in.

Plus, now I can hear the passersby talk trash about how skinny Sadie is and curse them under my breath. ๐Ÿ˜‰

(For those of you new to the blog, Sadie is quite a skinny-minnie. She has access to food at any time and our vet said it’s very common for vizslas to be so trim because of their energy levels. We’re workin’ on gettin’ a few extra pounds on those bones and have people stop us alllllll the time telling us how skinny she is. I feel like whenever I take her running with me people think I’m like a drill sargent trying to make her lose those last five pounds or someting. Not the case AT ALL. ๐Ÿ˜€ I love my skinny beast.)

Off to work I go!

Question of the Morning

Do you workout with or without music?

I LOVE listening to music during my workouts and find it very motivating to get lost in the music and sweat it out! ๐Ÿ˜€

Sunday = Special Breakfast

Sundays are meant for special breakfasts.

This morning I woke up in the mood for something cold, sweet and creamy.

A breakfast parfait seemed like the perfect way to go!

Everybody Loves a Parfait!

I made my parfait by layering Greek yogurt with strawberries andย Gerber Graduates cherry puffs.

I topped the parfait with two large spoonfuls of banana soft serve and more strawberries and cherry puffs.

This pretty lil’ wine glass full of creamy yumminess hit the spot!

Farmers’ Market

After breakfast, Ryan, Sadie and I walked to the Downtown Orlando Farmers’ Market to pick up some fresh fruit and veggies for the week.

Farmers' Market

Hot 'n' Happy

Even though it was just after 9 a.m., it was still awfully hot outside! We were sweatin’ up a storm.

Luckily we nabbed some goodies for the week:

  • One pineapple ($2.50! Steal!)
  • Zucchini
  • Cucumber
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Biggest carrot in the world
  • Purple pepper (I’d never seen one before!)
  • White pepperย (Never seen this either!)
  • Red pepper

Our bill was only $10.50 for all that food!

I Love Cheap Pineapples!

Now I’m getting ready to head to church while Ryan heads out for soccer practice.

Wedding tux selection to come!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
