The Most Awkward Move at the Gym

Today’s workout included the most awkward move you can possibly do at the gym:

Hubba, Hubba

Doesn’t this move seem wildly inappropriate?

Despite the totally embarrassing nature of this move, it really is a great lil’ one to do to target your tushie.

I felt like a complete tool as I completed three sets of this weighted hip thrust, but my butt felt the burn and that’s what I was goin’ for!

Ryan and I have talked in the past about embarrassing moves to do at the gym. One of his favorites is the hip abductor machine.

"Hey, Baby!"

Something about the hip abductor machine just screams, “Hey, baby! Come look at my crotch!”

The things we do in the name of fitness… šŸ˜‰

Along with 20 minutes of cardio split between the stair master and the elliptical, my workout included this total-body weights routine:

Work it Oooout

Breakfast

Breakfast today included a little experiment.

I read about Bethenny Frankel’s recipe for brown rice hot cereal in a magazine a couple of weeks ago and made a mental note to try to incorporate the healthy grain into my morning meal.

I started with a cup of Fage Greek yogurt.

Yog-a-Yog

On top of the yogurt, I added brown rice, sliced peaches and nutmeg for some added texture and sweetness.

Brown Rice Breakfast Bowl

I used brown rice from a packet of Uncle Ben’s whole grain brown Ready Rice which made this meal super easy to assemble.

Eat Up, Buttercup!

The verdict?

Deeeeelicious! It reminded me a lot of one of my barley breakfast bowls, but it was easier to prepare since the rice was pre-cooked thanks to good ol’ Uncle Ben.

Time to get to work, friends. See ya fo’ lunch! šŸ˜€

Question of the Morning

In your opinion, what is the most embarrassing move you can do in the name of fitness?

I’m sure you yoga-lovers have some good ones!

Pantry Scroungin’

During our early evening walk with Sadie, Ryan and I realized we didn’t have anything on the horizon for dinner. Uh oh!

Time for some pantry scroungin’!

I wanted pasta (surprise, surprise) but Ryan was in the mood for chicken, so while he unloaded the dishwasher, I got work making two separate, but equally tasty dinners.

My dinner:

Clammy Pasta Bowl

Parmesan Cheese Fo' Me

My pasta bowl contained:

  • Carba Nada egg fettuccine noodles
  • Marinara meat sauce
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Broccoli
  • Clams

Ryan’s dinner:

Chicken with Red Beans and Rice

Ryan’s rice bowl included:

  • Brown rice
  • Kidney beans
  • Chicken strips

The million dollar question… Which dinner would you chooose?

Family Dinner

I feel very fortunate that I had family dinners nearly every night when I was growing up. Some of my best memories from childhoodĀ came fromĀ conversations around theĀ dinner table, and I still look forward to family dinners whenever I come home to my parents’ house.

Ryan and I arrived in St. Pete around 6:15 p.m. and snacked a bit while we waited for my dad to get in town from a meeting in Jacksonville.

My mom already had a good portion of the dinner ready, but I tried to make myself useful by chopping up some brussels sprouts, tossin’ them in olive oil, salt andĀ pepperĀ and roasting them in the oven, right beside the fish and shrimp casserole my mom made.

The Cooks

Brussels Sprouts

Ryan and Leslie made a delicious fresh fruit salad.

Fresh Fruit Salad

Once my dad got home we were ready to eat!

Dinner included:

  • Brussels sprouts
  • Fruit salad
  • Corn on the cob
  • Brown rice
  • Shrimp and fish casserole

Brown Rice

I filled my plate with a bit of every thing… and went back for seconds (and thirds of some things). šŸ˜€

Dinner

Dinner was yummy!

Ice Cream Party

My mom keeps our freezer stacked with a bazillion (yes, a bazillion) different kinds of ice cream, so you know I just had to have some. My dad, sister and I scooped ourselves a big bowl of chocolate marshmallow ice cream, my mom enjoyed chocolate caramel cone crunch and Ryan opted for cookies ‘n’ cream. All delish!

The guys have already gone to bed, and my mom, sister and I are hangin’ out watching The Bachelor that my mom taped for us. One of the bachelorettes was actually in my sorority in college, but she went through rush after I graduated, so I never knew her. Still, it makes it fun to watch!

See ya in the morning for wedding dress shopping fun!
