Bare As Can Be

Our fridge and pantry are currently bare as can be! Ryan and I usually hit up the grocery store on Sundays but didn’t make it there yesterday. Alas, my lunchtime options were pretty miniscule.

Good thing a peanut butter sandwich is always a fantastic standby!

The Old Standby

Today’s peanut butter sandwich included Crazy Richards chunky pb smeared on top of a Pepperidge Farm whole wheat deli flat.

On the side I had steamed broccoli sprinkled with garlic salt and Brothers-All-Natural apple crisps that I snagged from my parents’ house this weekend.

Monday's Lunch

Quite the random assortment of goodies, but tasty nonetheless!

Just One Second

Please take a second (literally a second) to simply click here to give a woman a free mammogram. All you have to do is click the pink button on the website and sponsors of the site will pay for women to receive free mammograms.

Receiving a regular mammogram is so important for women in the prevention and early detection of breast cancer. You may read about my mom’s journey with breast cancer here.

On the Menu

I’m pretty excited about what’s on the menu for dinner evening!

I’ll give you a hint: Ryan scored this meal for us on Saturday.

Any guesses???

Question of the Afternoon

What is your standby meal that you make when you have nothing on hand?

“My Dog Likes To Potty All The Time”

My girl likes to party all the time, party all the time, party all the time…

I had this song in my head on my morning run with Sadie, except I subbed out “girl” for “dog” and “party” for “potty.”

Sadie was a pee machine! I think we stopped at least five times during our 5.14 mile run. (Do you like how I now know the exact distance of my runs? Yay, Garmin!)

Breakfast

I think all of Sadie’s potty breaks made me feel extra thirsty, because I downed two glasses of water right we we got home.

After a lightning-fast shower, I was ready for breakfast!

I couldn’t wait to try the Naturally More peanut butter Janetha sent to me to try.

Naturally More Peanut Butter

After stirring it up, I spread it on a toasted sweet wheat Alternative Bagel.

Holy Deliciousness

PB Topped Bagel

You know I enjoyed a peanut butter finger (or two) in the process…

PBF!

On the side of my peanut butter bagel, I included a handful of roasted peanuts and a bag of Brothers-All-Natural Asian pear crisps.

Roasted Peanuts

Breakfast

Apparently I was in quite the nutty mood! Peanut butter + roasted peanuts = Fantastic breakfast.

Question of the Day

Do you eat food straight out of the container, or always make it a point to serve your food on a plate or in a bowl?

I really try to enjoy my meals on a plate or in a bowl, but a lot of my snacks (like nuts and peanut butter fingers) are enjoyed right outta the bowl, box or jar.

I’m Not Delusional

Good news! Sick boy soup worked! Ryan is feeling much better today. I think the only one sad about this is Sadie who will miss her sicky playmate.

Workout and Oatty Breakfast

Today my cardio Tuesday was once again a cardio hodgepodge consisting of:

  • 15 min. stair master
  • 10 min. run
  • 15 min. incline walking
  • 10 min. elliptical

A cardio hodgepodge is the perfect workout on mornings where I’m feeling antsy and don’t want to go for a long run or take a spinning class. Jumping from machine to machine keeps it interesting (and keeps me sweaty, too!).

After my workout and Sadie’s morning walk, my tummy was grumblin’ and wanted something warm and filling.

I mixed a quarter of a cup of oats with a quarter of a cup of Flax Z Snax butter pecan hot cereal and stirred in a scoop of All the Whey cake batter protein powder for an added protein punch.

It was hot, creamy and delicious!

Sick Boy Soup

Poor Ryan stayed home from work today with a nasty cough, drippin’ nose and exhausted body. He spent the majority of the day sleeping with faithful Sadie by his side. I’m sure she was thrilled to have a cuddle buddy all day!

Little Sadie Girl

Soup for a Sick Boy

When I got home from work, I grabbed my grocery list and Ryan and I picked up some fresh veggies and goods for the week.

My Grocery List

We bought everything necessary for homemade chicken soup. At the first sign of sickness, I always crave a bowl of the good stuff. Tonight Ryan and I made a bubblin’ pot of soup full of vitamin-rich veggies to soothe his sickness.

The base for the soup was a box of chicken broth mixed with two cups of water and a packet of Knorr vegetable mix for tasty seasoning.

Cookin' Sick Boy Soup

Ryan added in thick pieces of chicken breast meat and let the chicken cook in the broth while I sliced and diced the veggies. Included in this soup was an onion, carrots, celery and portobello mushrooms.

Chopped Fresh Veggies

After adding the veggies to the pot, we let the soup simmer on low while I escaped to Great Clips for a haircut.

Gotta love cheap-o hair cuts! I’m not adventurous with my hairstyling at all. I’ve never dyed my hair and it’s been cut the same way for years. It’s kinda hard to mess up a half-inch trim, so I faithfully trust the Great Clips experts!

With freshly trimmed locks, I headed home to pour Ryan and myself two big bowls of homemade soup.

Big Ol' Bowl of Soup

We slurped and slurped until our bowls were empty and our bellies were warm. Yummy dinn-ah!

Unpacking and Cleaning

Remember that cleaning I said needed to happen last night? Well, I definitely neglected my duties and will be paying for it tonight.

I hate unpacking… even if it’s just from a weekend stay in St. Pete. My blue duffel haunts me until I empty it. The best unpacking experience occurs when all your clothes are dirty and you can just dump everything in the laudry basket. Not so this time since I didn’t wear 75 percent of the clothing I brought along for our weekend visit to my parent’s house. Oh well… unpacking here I come!

Last Chance

Tonight is your last chance to enter my first EVER giveaway. Just leave a comment on this post to be entered in a chance to win eight packs of Brothers-All-Natural fruit crisps!

My First Giveaway!

Hooray for a giveaway! 🙂

In past posts I’ve raved about Brothers-All-Natural fruit crisps. Well, when I went home this weekend, my mom had a GIANT box of them that she purchaed from Costco.

Since I always leave my parents’ house with loads of goodies, I thought that this time I’d share the goods with you wonderful blog readers. (Plus, my mom’s one heck of a nice lady and agreed to share her massive purchase.)

crisps 2

Brothers-All-Natural Fruit Crisps

I am giving away eight packages of the fruit crisps (six Fuji apple and two Asian pear) to one lucky reader. These crisps are great because the only ingredient in the pack is freeze dried fruit. They’re also low in calories (less than 40 in a pack), so they’re great to munch on or add into yogurt, oatmeal or other fun recipes.
