Place of Engagement

Lunch came together quickly this afternoon.

I prepared a cheese and tomato bagelwich by melting Muenster cheese on a Toufayan everything bagel thin and smearing one half of the bagel with raspberry wasabi honey mustard.

Along with my bagelwich I enjoyed cucumber slices and a can of La Croix grapfruit-flavored sparkling water.

Funny story about La Croix… When Ryan was in college, he had a professor that would always drink La Croix and none of the students knew what he was drinking. At the end of the semester when the professor opened up the floor for questions one last time, a student raised their hand and asked whether or not he had been sippin’ beer every day! 🙂

Nope, just some bubbly H20.


This afternoon Ryan and I ran all over Orlando completing some wedding-related errands.

We worked up quite an appetite and when Ryan suggested heading to Houston’s for dinner, I was more than game!

Houston’s is one of our favorite restaurants, and we had not paid a visit to the hot spot in nearly a year.

Our last time visiting Houston’s was on the night that Ryan proposed on October 3, 2009. Needless to say, we had a great time reminiscing about the night we became engaged this evening.

We began our meal by sharing a bowl of chili with a side of tortilla chips.

The chili was good and the bites with the thick pieces of cheddar cheese were my fav.

Whenever we go out to eat Ryan and I always order different entrees, but tonight we selected the exact same meal.

The French dip sandwich!

This sandwich is unreal. Ryan has ordered it every time we’ve visited Houston’s and it is truly amazing. I always try to branch out and order something different, but tonight all I wanted was this sandwich!

The roast beef is served on a homemade buttery croissant (that they then smear with more butter) and comes with a side of au jous for dipping.

Though the meat is perfectly moist, the croissant truly makes the sandwich. I ate it UP.

So, so good.


Buckle up, friends, because what I’m about to show you is my absolute favorite dish I’ve ever ordered at any restaurant… EVER.

Houston’s hot fudge sundae comes with the creamiest whipped cream, the sweetest sugar-coated pecans and the thickest, most chocolatey hot fudge sauce in the whole world.

It is my favorite dish – appetizer, entree, dessert or otherwise – ever.

Before digging into the sundae, we topped off our big bowl with ample amounts of hot fudge.

I think we both said “This is sooooo good” and “This is unbelievable” at least five times.

You put two ice cream fanatics in front of that dessert and the end result a bowl that has been all but licked clean.

We did some serious damage.

After finishing our sundae and wishing the bowl would automatically refill itself, Ryan and I headed outside, behind the back of the restaurant to hang out by the lake.

We enjoyed looking out at the dock where we ate dinner the night of our engagement.

It was a lil’ too sunny, so we didn’t last too long, but it was still wonderful to enjoy the company of my fiancé while reminiscing about such a fun day in our lives.

Tonight will be spent messing with the dog on the couch while watchin’ a movie.

Father of the Bride, perhaps?

I Worked Out and Had Dippy Eggs

Post title explanation: After typing up this post, I turned to Ryan and said, “What should I title my post? I worked out and had dippy eggs. Whadda ya got?”

On to today’s post!


I give myself leeway when it comes to working out on the weekend, but if time permits, I love sneaking in a sweaty workout first thing in the morning.

To say today’s 9 a.m. gym session was sweaty is quite the understatement.

This was the sight that greeted Ryan when he came to find me after his workout was over.

I definitely worked up a sweat thanks, yet again, to Jessica’s At Home Cardio Blast workout.


Before completing two rounds of the Cardio Blast circuit, I did 30 minutes of cardio, split evenly between the stair master and the elliptical.

As if the circuit isn’t hard enough by itself, doing two rounds after already completing 30 minutes of cardio made me sweat like a monster!

Needless to say, I worked up quite an appetite.


My pre-workout quesadilla held me over fairly well, but after that workout and a 2.5 mile walk with Ryan and Sadie, I was ready for a real breakfast.

I made myself a dippy egg, seasoned with salt ‘n’ peppa, to enjoy with a toasted Arnold multigrain sandwich thin and two strips of Morningstar Farms veggie bacon (one went directly into my mouth and didn’t make the picture).

I loved every last yolky bite!

Once we were finished licking our plates, Ryan and I spent some time in the backyard, soaking up some sun and playing with Sadie.

Now it’s time for lunch before we head out for the day.

Fitnessista’s Welcome Dinner at Season’s 52

What are a group of bloggers to do when they hear that a wonderful blogger is moving to the area?

Host a “Welcome to Orlando” dinner, naturally!

When I got word of Gina, aka The Fitnessista’s, plans to move to Orlando from Valdosta, I was immediately excited and knew it would be a great chance for area bloggers to get together and warmly welcome her to our wonderful city.

Luckily, a bunch of fantastic bloggers were more than happy to welcome Gina and we all decided to meet at Season’s 52 to enjoy dinner and drinks last night.

The gang included (from left to right above):

Gina had the hook up at the restaurant and was able to snag us the chef’s table.

While we were waiting for our table, we enjoyed complimentary glasses of sparkling wine.

After we were seated, the chef greeted us and described the amuse-bouche he created for our table.

It was salmon served on a delicious pineapple mango salsa. Loved it! I would definitely order a much larger portion of this little sample as a meal if it was offered on the menu.

Following the amuse-bouche, our server brought out a bunch of appetizers for us to sample.

Grilled Artichoke Flatbread

Every single appetizer was fantastic, though my favorites were the goat cheese ravioli and the chipotle shrimp flatbread.

I had two pieces of the shrimp flatbread, one piece of the artichoke flatbread, a large spoonful of the goat cheese ravioli and lots and lots of edamame.


Since our dinner wasn’t until 9 p.m. I ate a little something with Ryan before arriving, so I wasn’t too hungry after my pre-dinner snack and the appetizers. When it was time to order our entrees, I opted for the chipotle grilled prawns with tomatillo salsa verde and fresh guacamole appetizer as my main meal.

It was so, so good!

The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and the guacamole was a tasty relief from the heat of the dish.

Season’s 52 offers a variety of mini dessert shots, and we decided it was best to taste them all and shared the whole spread… with one exception…

The fresh fruit!

And we call ourselves healthy living bloggers… 😉

Fresh fruit is fantastic, but when choosing between a dessert shot of fresh fruit or carrot cake, rocky road mousse or pecan pie, there’s no competition!

Possibly my favorite part about Season’s 52 is that the restaurant concentrates on creating fresh, healthy meals. Everything on their menu has 475 calories or less which is a neat concept when you think about all the restaurants that have 1,000 + calorie dishes hidden on their menu. It takes the guessing game out of the equation.

We all agreed that our meal was delicious!

I really enjoyed chatting with these wonderful bloggers. I had a great time talking about blogging, food, fashion, Orlando and more. These are some fun girls! 😀 I can’t wait to get together again soon.


It’s about time for a good workout at the gym.

Ryan and I also have plans for a date later today, which I’m awfully excited about.
