100 Degrees

According to my car, it was 100 degrees outside when I drove home from work this afternoon.

Holy hotness!

Just walking from my car to our apartment made me feel overheated, so I knew a long walk with Sadie was out of the question.

Instead, I leashed her up for an early-eveningย romp at the dog park.

Playin' at the Park

All Smiles

Our time at the park was spent playing a billion rounds of fetch.

Sadie also enjoyed several dips in the lake to cool down.

Pretty Girl

I thinkย a long session at the dog park makes me hungrier than Sadie and I’m not even the one who sprints around like a mad woman.

Post-park, we came home and I got to work in the kitchen.

Dinner

Dinner came together in a flash thanks to a Morningstar Farms tomato and basil pizza veggie burger.

Pizza Burger

I served the burger on a whole wheat Pepperidge Farms deli flat with spinach and plum tomato slices.

Roasted cauliflower rounded out the meal.

It was great post-park fuel! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ryan is attending at a class this evening, so Sadie and I have plans to cuddle on the couch and watch The Bachelorette right now. I’m really looking forward to relaxin’ with the pup.

See ya in the morning!

I Love the ’90s

I always prep my lunch the day before. If I don’t assemble it completely, I at least package up what I need and organize it in the fridge so it’s easily accessible in the morning.

I usually pack my lunch as I make dinner. It’s efficient and also distracts me with an activity while dinner is cooking, which helps me avoid mindless snacking.

Last night, I prepped today’s noodle bowl which contained:

  • Carba Nada pasta
  • Ragu meat marinara sauce
  • Steamed fresh broccoli

Monday's Lunch

The entire bowl came together in less than 10 minutes. Fast and tasty! Perfect-o.

I Love the ’90s

I am a huge fan of music from the ’90s.

Maybe it’s because ’90s jams take me back to fun memories from childhood and high school or maybe it’s because the music is just so darn catchy. Either way, I can’t help but feel a little excited every time I hear a ’90s classic come on the radio.

This weekend Ryan’s mom brought out a big box of Ryan’s old CDs. I think I fell in love with him all over again when I saw him pull out CDs like LaBouche, Alanis Morissette (he denies ever liking this CD), Will Smith, No Doubt, Sister Hazel, Sisqo (I didn’t think anyone actually bought this CDโ€ฆ), 2Pac, TLC, Blackstreet, and more.

My Girl, Alanis

I immediately took a handful of his old CDs and uploaded a billion songs onto my iPod.

Just in case any of you share my intense love for ’90s music, I thought I’d share my latest playlist, comprised completely of ’90s classics:

Question of the Afternoon

What were some of your favorite ’90s bands or ’90s songs?

Don’t be ashamed to share your intense love for the Backstreet Boys… This is a judgment-free zone (and I’m looking for more ideas of ’90s songs to download ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

Summer Berries

Hooray for the sweetness of summer berries!

Blubes

Double hooray for them being on sale at the grocery store for the past month!

I’m a serious fruit fanatic and love almost every kind of fruit, but to me, berries are the best kinda fruit for mixin’.

This morning I used about 1/2 a pint of $2.50 blueberries in a yogurt bowl and topped the mixture with old fashioned oats.

On the side I sipped on Barnie’s French vanilla coffee, which I snagged from my gym’s free stash. Gotta make the most of that membership. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Workout

I slept like a rock last night. Aside from a random dream about Hulk Hogan (what???), I slept soundly.

When my alarm went off I was dead asleep. Thank goodness Ryan goes to the gym at the same time as me in the morning, because when he gets out of bed, it motivates me to get out of bed too.

As we were walking to the gym, I knew today would be a BodyPump-kinda day. I didn’t feel like putting myself through a quality workout so I figured I’d let the instructor do it for me. ๐Ÿ™‚ Fifty minutes later, I was happy and sweaty.

Post ‘Pump, I did 25 minutes of light cardio o n the elliptical with Oxygen magazine. (To all of you Oxygen readers out there – don’t you think the cover model looks just like Kristin Davis??)

Question of the Day

  • What is your favorite kind of berry?

In my opinion, if a strawberry is perfectly ripe and super-sweet, there’s no better berry. ๐Ÿ˜€
