Unpacking & Organizing

I have a feeling that this will be my life for the next several days: unpacking and organizing (and decorating – Yay!)!

Ryan and I have made great headway unpacking the many boxes that are all over our new apartment.

There are still quite a few stragglers that I don’t want to unpack because I have no clue where I want to put the contents, or we’re waiting on some new additions (like a desk!) that will serve as a new home for the stuff. All in good time!

Does clutter bother you or can you just ignore it?

Growing up my room was always messy. My sister was the neat-freak and I just couldn’t grasp how someone could feel stressed out over a mess!

Fast forward eight years and I am that person! I really cannot stand when our apartment looks junky. It eats away at me now!

Dinner

I knew Ryan and I had plans to take Sadie on a long walk before hittin’ up the grocery store after work today, so I wanted to make sure our dinner tonight was one that we could assemble in a flash.

Thank goodness for the crockpot!

We enjoyed a yummy meal of BBQ pulled chicken with Green Giant healthy vision veggies.

Dinner Time!

We needed some nutritious fuel to last us though a night that’s sure to be filled with more unpacking and perhaps the construction of the chest of drawers we bought from IKEA yesterday.

I’m thinking a new apartment tour will be in order once we’re fully unpacked!

Oh, Hello There

I’m here, I promise!

Though I was a bit MIA this weekend, I hope to be back to my normal blogging schedule now that the majority of the craziness from a weekend full of moving is behind me.

It’s amazing how much blogging is beginning to feel part of my daily routine. When I don’t blog or update PBF, I feel like something is missing!

If you have a blog, do you feel like blogging is part of you?

I still look at blogging as a hobby because I don’t ever want my blog to feel like a chore or a burden since I love it so much, but I do feel a little anxious when I haven’t shown it much love with adequate posts over the weekend sometimes!

Aaanyway, on to a new fun-filled week!

Today

I woke up in the new apartment after sleeping like a baby. Ryan and I were exhausted (and still are a bit…) from such a jam-packed weekend.

Our old place still has a few things left in it and we have to do the “final clean” over there, but the majority of our belongings are already transferred.

Yesterday afternoon we headed to IKEA and bought a couple of things for the new place:

We assembled the bed and television stand last night and they look great!

Our relationship managed to survive yet another moving and furniture assembly experience. 🙂

Workout + Breakfast

I headed to the gym with Ryan for our morning workout before the sun was up. Apparently a lot of other people had similar plans today because the 5:45 a.m. BodyPump class was PACKED.

I snagged a spot in the back of the class and managed to get a decent workout in before finishing up with 25 minutes on the elliptical.

Breakfast was tasty!

Strawberries + Yogurt

I enjoyed a toasted waffle with Greek yogurt and strawberries. (I forgot to snap a pic of the waffle… Oops!)

This was my first time trying Yoplait Greek yogurt and it was pretty good! I still prefer Chobani, Oikos or Fage (they seem a little thicker), but I enjoyed every bite.

After a weekend of some crazy and sporadic eating, it feels good to be back to a healthy routine.

Hope your Monday is off to a good start!

Pasta Party

This morning while watching Sadie hunt lizards in our new backyard (!!!), I had a chance to upload pictures from Saturday night’s pasta party.

After moving all day on Saturday, Ryan and I were so ready to chow down!

Hungry Couple

Our friends Merri and Pete were having a pasta dinner party to “carbo-load” for Sunday morning’s 5k race. Any excuse for yummy pasta and garlic bread, right?

Pete & Merri

Pete and Merri spent hours preparing a real Italian meal for us to enjoy. Pete is Italian and made his own pasta sauce and meatballs. He said his mom would make this elaborate dinner every Sunday night when he was growing up! Lucky boy, huh?

Garlic Bread

Laurel's Salad

Pasta + Sauce + Meatballs + Italian Sausage

Everything was so delicious. I think everyone went back for seconds of everything.

Fuelin' Up for the 5k!

We had to adequately fuel for the 5k, right?

I seriously couldn’t get enough of Pete’s sauce and Merri even put a bunch of it in some Tupperware for me and Ryan to take home with us. (We already ate all of it last night when we made ravioli!)

After dinner, we hung out for a bit before it was time for dessert. Even though we were all full at this point, we still managed to call our second stomachs into action for zepploes.

I had never had or heard of zeppoles before Pete and I haven’t looked back since. They’re beyond delicious!

Pete makes the zeppoles by wrapping mozzarella cheese in pizza dough, before frying the balls and tossing them in powdered sugar. Are you drooling yet???

I had three and enjoyed every last bite!

It was a great night with great friends and great food. Great all around! 😀

I’m off to shower… See ya after breakfast!
