Dog Pile!!!

I am awfully glad I took Sadie on a five mile run this morning because the weather went sour afterward. Fortunately she has a decent amount of exercise under her belt for the day, but I still feel bad that the rainy weather has dampened (Notice the pun? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) any afternoon activities with the pup.

It looks like tonight will be filled with lots of dog piles!

Whenever Ryan and I are in the mood to mess with Sadie, one of us will yell out “Dog Pile!!!” and run into the bedroom. Sadie runs as fast as she can to jump on the bed and an excessive amount of dog wrestling ensues.

Puppy Pile

(Side note: When you type “dog pile” into Google and do a Google Images search, this picture of a dog pile of little vizsla puppies *the same breed as Sadie* comes up! What a coincidence! Oh and I now want the little rigamortis one at the bottom, left of this picture.)

Dinner

I wasn’t sure what I wanted for dinner tonight.

Usually I have pretty strong food cravings, but tonight everything sounded good, but nothing sounded perfect. Decisions, decisions!

Finally we settled on Annie’s white cheddarย mac and cheese with lots of veggies.

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always loved stirring in the cheese sauce. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheesy

I added portobello mushrooms, broccoli and zucchini to the cheesy pasta to add an extra nutritional punch.

Mac and Cheese and Veggie Bowl

Usually when I make mac and cheese, I just stir in the cheese packet without adding anything else. This time I followed the instructions on the package and mixed the cheese packet into 1/4 cup of milk. It made the sauce runnier and I definitely prefer my usual method. You live, you learn!

I’m off to watch Friday Night Lights with Ryan and Sadie and engage in a couple o’ dog piles before bed.

See ya tomorrow… on FRIDAY!

Spring Produce

I am a girl who plans her weekly meals based on what fruits and veggies are on sale at the grocery store every Sunday. This means that when the seasons change and different produce becomes in season (and therefore on sale) my purchases change as well.

Oh So Fresh!

The warmer weather in Central Florida got me thinking about spring. With the first day of spring rapidly approaching (it’s Saturday, March 20, by the way), I’m anxiously awaiting fresh spring produce!

Of the following spring produce, which are you most excited to enjoy?

  • Apricots
  • Asparagus
  • Spinach
  • Avocado
  • Vidalia Onions
  • Radishes
  • Strawberries

(Is anyone going to pick radishes? I mean really… ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I am definitely most excited for strawberries!

Lunch

Lunch today featured fresh veggies and pasta… Shocking, I know. I never eat this meal. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lunch Time!

Today’s noodle bowl included:

Stirred Up

Is it weird that I really think I could eat this every single day for lunch? I am a big advocate for variety, but this is one meal I get really excited to eat every single time.

For dessert I enjoyed a cup of sugar-free Jello and a mini apple pie Larabar that I received yesterday in my race packet for Saturday’s 10k race. Gotta love free samples!

All in all, a tasty lunch!

Ready to Run

I walked half way to the gym this morning before I turned to Ryan and told him I was heading back home to leash Sadie up for a run outside instead of a cardio workout at the gym.

I initially planned to have a nice, easy elliptical session today because I didn’t want to run two days before my 10k race on Saturday, but the wonderful temperatures outside were calling to me! I decided to run at a nice, easy pace. Sadie was beyond excited when I returned home not even a minute after leaving.

Ready to Run!

To quote the Dixie Chicks, Sadie was “Ready to Run!” We ran five miles at an easy pace, stopping several times for potty and smell breaks (for Sadie, not for me ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

We ran a couple loops around a lake by my apartment and every time we passed this one white dog, she would lay down waiting for us to run by. When we were done with our run and were walking a cool-down lap around the lake, I talked to the dog’s owner who said her dog always lays down anytime another dog passes by. It was so adorable… and the complete opposite of Sadie who immediately wants to be best friends with every dog (and person) she meets.

How does your pet react to other animals?

When we arrived home, Sadie got a treat for a run well done. ๐Ÿ™‚

Post-Run Snack

Of course I still made her work for it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

(Do you like Sadie’s Greek yogurt streak above her nose? She got to lick the cup from my breakfast. ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Breakfast

Breakfast was faaaaantastic.

I combined thawed frozen strawberries, barley and Chobani Greek yogurt with a bit of sweetener forย  a yummy breakfast bowl.

I stirred it up and enjoyed it along with a hot cup of Bigelow eggnog’n tea (which isn’t too amazing, by the way).

Thursday's Breakfast

Oh my gosh, I just realized it’s Thursday!!! Hooray for Friday tomorrow. I love weekends and it’ll be here before ya know it!
